How Does Smile.io Count Your Orders?
Every order with a customer email counts, including refunded ones, and the count resets each calendar month. These rules are from Smile’s help center (
how orders are counted,

pricing protection).
- All orders count, whether paid, unpaid or refunded, online or in store.
- Orders without a customer email don’t count, such as some in-person POS sales and marketplace orders.
- The month is a calendar month, not your billing cycle.
- Orders before you installed Smile don’t count, and during a trial, counting starts once the trial ends and a program is on.
- Going over on Free, Essential or Standard: your program keeps working, and Smile notifies you and asks you to upgrade. New stores get a first-month grace period on the free plan.
- Pricing protection: the orders Smile counts are capped at 1.2 times your previous month, which limits surprise costs in a spike such as Black Friday.
